We describe any position within our cafe as “barista”. being a barista in our shop may look like taking food & drink orders, prepping food & drinks, cleaning, pulling espresso shots & steaming milk, stocking shelves, etc. We take the time to train and integrate baristas into our shop culture, and job assignments are given based on performance and need. below are a few non-negotiable for being a part of our team:

We’ll want you to…

Act as a business owner with an emotional connection to everything in the shop.
Have a passion for coffee. Continuously pursue and grow in your coffee education by eagerly learning about the history, culture, nuances and complexities of coffee — from cherry to cup.
Understand that your craft doesn’t dominate the dialogue - it’s about connecting with our customers and giving them a great experience.
Be a stickler with espresso. We aim for consistency and quality with every shot. If it’s not right, dial it in.
Take pride in your craft and maintain a high level of excellence with every pour.
Be aware of what’s going on around you and pick up on subtle cues to adjust approach and tempo.
Cultivate meaningful interactions with our guests; they’ll remember how you made them feel before they’ll remember the coffee.
Stay up to speed on our beverage and food menu; contribute to create seasonal specials
Taste new coffees, beverages and teas to ensure you can accurately describe them to customers.

Keep the shop clean by utilizing our opening, mid shift and closing checklists.
Set you and your coworkers up for success by replenishing inventory and maintaining a clean work area.

OH, AND BY THE WAY, YOU…

Are at least 18 years old.
Have experience in craft coffee, or other work experience of similar scope.
Have a valid ServSafe Food Handlers card registered in the state of Alabama and adhere to all food safety regulations
Have a voice, tailor your communication to the audience and write succinctly and professionally.
Process information and operate store systems accurately.
Are adept with technology and apps and are familiar with industry-related blogs and feeds.
Are available when we are busy, including: weekends, holidays, early mornings and sometimes nights.
Must bend, reach and stretch for supplies and product, as well as lift, carry and move at least 40 lbs.
